Topic: What Are Your Thoughts On Purity Balls?

Purity Balls are where young girls pledge their virginity to their fathers at a promlike event.  According to "The Purity Myth" by Jessica Valenti, more than 1400 purity balls were held in 2006 (all federally funded).

  1. I read "The Purity Myth" by Jessica Valenti, my veiw is that it is completly f'd up that they are federally funded. I have no issue with people waiting till marriage to have sex or ppl waiting for "the one". I have an issue with my tax dollars supporting this religious event.

An issue I had with the book is that Jessica failed to mention that these Purity Balls are not inculsive to girls who do not have fathers, whether their fahters have passed or if they are not around. She missed pointing out that these Purity Balls are only for grrls who live in a hetero family.
